Mason

Since the release of MAN MADE, Mason Caminiti has continued training in order to compete for his Pro Card (a measure for high-achieving amateur bodybuliders who place in the top tier of a NPC qualifier). In addition to his ongoing commitment to and love of bodybuilding, Mason and his wife Anne welcomed their first child, Gianna, in November of 2019. Despite the difficult political conditions of 2020, Mason reports that raising his daughter has been a small pocket of joy for him and Anne. In addition, Mason’s (formerly-estranged) father got the opportunity to see Man Made in North Carolina during the film’s festival run, and it moved him so much, it was the first time he told Mason he was proud of him. “If it can have that kind of impact in my own life, then I know it can in others,” Caminiti says. After having surgery on his right rotator cuff (after a non-bodybuilding-related injury), the kind messages of support Mason received after the film’s worldwide release has been the biggest motivator throughout his recovery.

“[Man Made] reminds me that it’s very impactful when we choose to live the truth of our lives. It helped me slow down and acknowledge my (and others’ in the film) accomplishments and realize what I have had to overcome and work through in order to get where I am.”

Kennie

Since the film’s release, Kennie Story has started an online health and fitness coaching platform called The Movement Health and Fitness. While still working for the University of Central Arkansas, Kennie noticed a gap in fitness coaching oriented toward LGBTQ people, who can be left out of traditional coaching models. Although he has paused his bodybuilding career for the time being, fitness and health are still at the core of Kennie’s work and life. He frequently finds the progress of others to be a source of trans joy, and enjoys seeing the progress he continually makes himself, especially after having top surgery in Summer 2019. In the relationship department: despite the challenges of visiting each other during the COVID-19 pandemic, Kennie and Russell (formerly DJ) are still together. DJ was offered a librarian position in Florida a few years ago, but they enjoy seeing each other whenever possible. Kennie is proud of the diversity in representation Man Made was able to showcase, and hopes that the film inspires courage in others—as it did for himself. Kennie is looking forward to expanding The Movement Health and Fitness to a physical location, and is excited to continue pursuing his passion for LGBTQ health and fitness.

“I hope that my story has served as a means for advocating for our community through providing hope and educating and allowing others to see that while I happen to be transgender it is only a part of who I am.”

Tommy

Since the film’s release, Tommy has continued working as a professional trainer and has since started his own personal training business. His bodybuilding career continues, as Tommy won his weight class at a Men’s Physique competition in 2018. Tommy has primarily been focusing on his business since the win, and writing an eBook, “Chest Training for Transmen,” now available on his website: 3TFitnessLifestyle.com. Tommy is still with his girlfriend Nicole; they are celebrating their 3-year anniversary soon. Of the anti-trans rhetoric and political climate created by the Trump Administration, Tommy says that he’s become more selective about sharing his trans status. Tommy is passionate about keeping his spirits up, but says that he doesn’t let his challenges become him. After finishing his chest training guide, Tommy has begun work on a mass gaining book for trans men, forthcoming on the same above website.

“I hope for a future that when people see the damage Trump has done, they have a change of heart and can really push for social equity for everyone.”
